God is showing me what true worship is! It’s obedience. It’s all the little things you do for Him. It’s having all your mind on Him in everything you do! We are supposed to worship 24/7. It’s not having anything in His place; that means no idols, no idolatry! People always have to get in the Spirit because they have not learned how to live in the Spirit. But when Monday, Tuesday, come, we have not lived in the Spirit. There is no fear, worry, lack, or striving in true worship. The only way for that to happen is when we separate ourselves from spiritual worship. If anything, else is first, religion follows: that is called an idol. Even if what became first is something He gave to you. God is the only one who can be jealous, and He is jealous when anything takes His place. It is written, “For you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:14). When these things become your worship: kids, work, your talents, God can’t bless you because these things became a stumbling block. The enemy wants to plant stumbling blocks so you cannot worship Him.
People think worship is singing and dancing, but you can’t even do that if you cannot be His disciple. Worship starts when we pick up our cross! Saying something that He told you to, that is worship. Loving when your flesh wants to react, that is worship. When you sacrifice in your giving, that is worship. We have to know what true worship is, but first, we must know what Truth is! Cain kept looking at his brother’s worship instead of keeping his eye on his own field, on his own obedience, and on his own assignment and tasks.
Just straight first love is worship! When the Word in Revelation 2:4-5 talks about leaving the first love, that means leaving your worship towards Him first. Returning to our first love means returning to love Him first. Spiritual worship means to love Him first, seek Him first, and have Him as our priority. When we don’t have Him as first, all the other things we put first will one day be taken away. “Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5
Let the Father remove them all before He removes you. Remember when you removed Him from that first place? Repent means when you put your child first or your job first - very easy to fix - put them second and Him first. “Or keep making Me jealous and angry, and I will take my oil from you. I will remove your candlesticks out of your life.” “Wow, beautiful children you have”; “Wow, what a job,” but you are not even happy! You don’t have Him any longer. You lost your life because He became second! False church or carnal church won’t even preach God first.
This is a natural example of putting God first. Let’s read the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4:3-8: “And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.” When we are not in a good place with God, even our eyes don’t sparkle. We know when God is dealing with somebody; their countenance changes. We can see it and feel it. There is no fakeness or hiding anymore. And this person keeps blaming other people, places, and things, but they are the problem. The spirit of murder killed Cain! The first time Cain brought his offering, God was like, “Get your heart right.” Brothers and sisters will tell them, “Shut that door,” but they ignore it! In the process of time, things happen! We go from glory to glory, but in the process of time, our countenance starts falling because something and someone else became first!
Anything or anyone that is in your mind all the time is first in your life. Whatever we really hate, we run from it. People say, “I hate this.” No. They don’t because when you hate something, you despise it. They actually love it because it is first in their lives. Thank God for His corrections. Why is He talking about doing well? But you see, the actual offering (seed) is just the substance, the overflow, the expression, the worship. It’s the obedience, the faith, the sacrifice! Is that why? Why am I gathering with the saints? Why am I doing this and that? It’s all about the heart!
Spiritual worship is to stand in purity towards all men. Let’s read, “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.” Matthew 5:20-26
The spirit of Cain will make us angry at our brother without a cause (verse 22). Abel did nothing wrong!
We are now the altar, and we are the gift! But remember, if your brother has something against you, don’t even come to the altar before reconciling with him, but we are the worship. If we are the temple, where is then the altar? So, get your heart right first! You are just religious without the fear of the Lord! You are still messed up, still depressed, still angry, and you are not picking up your cross! You are questioning God; you are worried about tomorrow! This is real worship: it is obedience! If you are not obeying the Word of God, your light is not shining. How we can attract people to Jesus when they can’t even see because they are blinded?
Jesus told us, “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:20). The pharisees at least were washing things in the natural before entering into the temple! We don’t even do that, not even if it is from the outside! If you know you have something going on with you, “Well, you don’t know what they said and did to me?” That is not the Gospel. When the blood is in the house, when the power is in the house, and you are not in the house, you have a problem. It is not the person inside of the house! You cannot fake it. Everybody sees it. In the upper room, they were in one accord, one Spirit. Their overflowing reached the whole city! This is the benefit of the anointing of God that God has for us as believers! It is all about how you give yourself fully!
You may be doing all right, but if you have a heart like Cain, your gift, and that’s you, what you are doing, and your sacrifice won’t be acceptable to God. You end up putting yourselves back under the curse and in danger of the judgment. We cannot hold on to our own will and ways. The turning of the other cheek is true worship! Anything you put first, even in your heart, you hold on to, and you will never worship Him in the Spirit and in the Truth! Nobody can enter into the gates with thanksgiving because they are carrying all of that offense, hurt, and resentment through the gate. You cannot get through the gate with this heavy load! That is why the Word says, go and reconcile with your brothers first, then bring your worship to Him, and then bring your gift to Him! You can’t ever be in peace with God if you are not in peace with your brother. That is a seed that eventually will spring forth. You are reaping curses because of the seeds you yourself planted. Don’t choose the curse! God can even sanctify your memory if you ask Him. “Whatsoever ye shall bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on Earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18). So, lose that person, lose that pain, and lose that resentment. Don’t bind yourself; don’t bind your brother.
People say I love God, but it is not about loving God only. It is about putting Him first. It does not matter if you were birthed in the pulpit, if your father is a pastor, or if you grew up in the church. It is all about Him first and above all the rest! Do you not realize you become the gift? Truth and Spirit. This is what we preach. We teach. We exhort. We admonish. That’s why, corporately if all have true worship: BOOM! UPPER ROOM! Then everything we do is an expression of true worship! The upper room is Him!
Spiritual worship is total submission. It is to be rooted and grounded in love. It’s so simple, but we complicate it! How can the religious system ever be a replication of a temple of God when God Himself is not first in any way, shape, or form? They have a big smile on their face, but it is impossible to be happy with God as second in our lives. All fake. All deception. You can’t be perfect or perfected without true spiritual worship. Spiritual worship is not song and dance! It’s obedience and sacrifice. You can’t worship Him if you have murder in your heart towards your brother. The same people who say, “I love Jesus,” are in danger if they ignore the condition of their hearts. You can’t hold on to your flesh. You are putting your flesh in first place. You can wave flags, you can force song and force dance, but it’s all a waste of time if you’re disobedient.
We have religious entertainers. “Come on, now. Come now, and let’s worship the Lord!” What were you doing before? God is not looking for cheerleaders. He is looking for Spirit and for Truth! They are coming to a place, but their hearts are far from Him and from their brothers. Fake worshipers get jealous of people who worship in Spirit and in Truth. Whoever is really a worshiper can worship God. It does not matter what; it does not matter where. They know they are a mess, but that won’t stop them from giving God what He deserves.
It’s not just going to a building. It’s Him being the high priest of this temple called your body! What is that temple now? Us! We don’t come to break through but to release out of our belly! God does not anoint performance! He anoints us! When you are anointed, you break wherever, and no yoke can be upon you!! You can’t go to worship. Worship should come out of you 24/7! But what comes out of you is offense, backbiting, anger, carnality…You can’t hide it. When you bow to your will, you become a worshiper to your own god, which is you!
Remember, things that Jesus Christ has said and has done, that is worship! My worship did not start in the building; it started in me! Obedience is pure worship! Abraham was trying to put Isaac first, and God said, “No, I gave you a son, but right now, he is first, and I want him back.” God gave His only son to show us how much He loves us (John 3:16)! My worship may not look like your worship. All the other things people do are only an expression of worship but worship! It sounds so religious when we say things like, “I am going to worship!”; “I need to go worship the Lord!” This all comes from old wine, the religious system! So, at the end of the day, we have a hard time expressing our self so we force it! But that’s only because we have been all about ourselves: Our excitement, our joy, our passion for other things! Like money, like sports, like vanity, like family, like worldly status, like self-satisfying that leads to selfishness! At the end of the day, you are worshiping, but it’s you trying to not have to depend on God BUT SELF! Anxiety means you are trying to get something by your own self before God gives it to you. “The blessing of the LORD brings [true] riches, And He adds no sorrow to it” (Proverbs 10:22). We are the ones that add sorrow to the blessing of God if His blessings become idolatry! The blessings of God are supposed to be without sorrow.
So, setting our minds on things above is worship. Living from above is worship! We worship Him with our lips, but our heart is far from it! So, whoever has your time, has your mind, and has your worship. Whatever you have your mind on first, the temple automatically follows! He covers all. There are no leaks. It is a fortress! The fire reveals all the idols, especially when that idol is you! This is how the old wine was, and it still operates in and on the earth! If it takes over, you will become religious. Your worship will become what Jesus came to change! But the hour has come…
“The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.” John 4:19-26
People worship who they know not. Who are you worshiping? Yourself? Your money? Your career? Your hurt? If all of these are first, you have left your first love. Now we know what we worship! When you walk in the Spirit, you are worshiping. When you walk in the Truth, you are worshiping! That is the spiritual worship God accepts. Some of us want to hold on to our own selves and sing worship songs all day long. You can sing out loud, and God will never hear your songs! We don’t go to worship to break through, but we need to be in the Spirit. That is pure worship!
The Father is looking…You don’t need to be looking because He is looking for you, for those with this pure heart of worship. He will find those. We must worship Him the way He wants us to. This woman even knew that the Messiah was called Christ. She knew that Christ would tell her all things! But now we know, He is here! Jesus told her and me, “I that speak to you is He!” Wow!
She dropped everything because now Jesus Christ was everything to that woman! There is no condemnation, only for those who don’t walk in the flesh but in the Spirit. “I am right, you are wrong.” “You did this, you did that.”… That is pure flesh. No pure worship will come out of your flesh. We are coming to Hot, not just to hear a message, but to eat HIM, to sit at the table! The more you eat Him, the more you want. The more you desire, the more you hunger after Him. The more you want Him, the more He pours in. When He becomes first, worship will be acceptable. If you don’t worship Him the way He told us, the rocks will. But we can also live at the table, so when someone brings something to feast on, we’re at the table to serve them and to dine with Him!
You said that the church is a place to worship, but Jesus said, “BELIEVE ME! Because I am Spirit, and I will attract my worshiper to walk in the Spirit.” Jesus said, “BELIEVE ME!”
The hour has come, and the hour is here, and you shall worship not in that building, at a certain time, but you, a spiritual worshiper, will worship, not as a seventh-day worshiper but an everyday and every minute worshiper, out of the sincerity of your heart, out of the abundance of your hearts! Now it is the time! We know what we worship. Salvation is the spirit of life. We need to worship out of the wells of salvation, out of abundance, not out of ritual, but in sincerity and in the Spirit, so when we walk in the Spirit and don’t fulfill the lust of the flesh, we are worshiping, and we are worship! When we come together, it is a holy fire! Because it is going to be just like the upper room but bigger than that because they are all over the world!
The hour has come, and now is …God wants us to worship in love: love your enemies (that’s true worship). Don’t think you are the only one without pride, true worshipers decrease and live out of humility! The Father looks for those! The Holy Spirit is grooming us to do that which the Father is looking for because they are one! The Holy Spirit is the consummation between God and man. When we walk in true worship, we are one with Him!
God is spirit! And they that worship Him must have to - there is no other way but in Spirit and in Truth! That is why we are here today; get your heart ready! I can’t even look at me. I don’t want to be accepted by God for what I do but for who I am. Because anything else is religious! Everything is worship because He is all in all in you! Remember when Jesus had His ministry on Earth, they worshiped Him - the Word. He did not have a band and music. He had the Word. In the beginning was the Word (John 1:1). It was not music!
Love can only be manifested in the Spirit. If you don’t love people, if God is not first, there is no way to worship Him in Spirit and Truth! We are coming to church, not just to hear a message, but to eat HIM, to sit at His table! But we can also live at the table. This is spiritual worship: to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth! In obedience toward the Word and toward the Spirit. “Father, we thank you because we want to worship you in spiritual worship. Father, put things in order inside of us. Be the first. Let the last be the first, and any first besides you be the last! You are seeking for those…Let them be us!
